New Year’s Resolutions for Job Seekers

Posted in: Blog

If finding a better job is on your list of New Year's resolutions now is the time to get moving!

Here are cer Financials top five tips on how we can help make it happen for you!

1. CV Update

If it’s been a while since you updated your CV, invest some time now to improve it. cer Financial can't stress on how important this is on ensuring your CV is updated on a regular basis with your experience and skills.

2. Think about the kind of job you really want!

If you’re going to take the time to look for a new position, it should be something you really want to do. In other words, determine what will make you happy—a higher salary, more flexibility, added responsibility and authority.

3. Prepare for interview:

In order to be successful in an interview you need to research the organisation, compare your skills and qualifications to the job requirements, prepare responses and most importantly prepare questions to ask at the end! 4. Learn new skills

While you’re working on goals specific to job hunting, it also makes sense to enhance your work-related skills. Your skill set may need a boost to remain relevant and attractive to employers. Pursuing professional development shows initiative and a commitment to learning, as well as an understanding of what it takes to excel in your field.

5. Check your profile online

Almost all companies will do a little low-key cyber stalking when they’re reviewing job applicants. If you’re in the market, make sure your LinkedIn profile is updated and accurate, but also take a look at your other social media accounts. If you see a lot of potentially embarrassing content, tidy them up.

Seeking a new job is always going to require exceptional effort on your part but cer Financial can help and guide you every step of the way!
