Job Description

Data Migration Test Lead VP

City of London / Hybrid working

12- month contract

£550 per day

 

cer Financial are working alongside an exciting, diverse, international bank who are based in the City of London. They are seeking a Data Migration Test Lead VP to work with them on a 12-months contract.

 

The responsibilities of a Data Migration Test Lead VP will include:

 

  • Test Strategy Development: Develop and document a comprehensive test strategy for data migration activities ensuring data accuracy, consistency, integrity and performance.
  • Test Planning and Execution: Lead the planning, design, and execution of data migration testing, including functional, system, and acceptance testing.
  • Data Management and Quality Assurance: Ensure data quality standards are adhered to during the migration process. Utilise data profiling tools to identify and rectify data anomalies and inconsistencies.
  • Team Leadership and Coordination: Lead and mentor a team of test engineers.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Generate detailed reports on testing activities, including defects discovered, resolution status, and recommendations for improvements. Maintain thorough documentation of all testing activities and findings for future reference and audits.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders to ensure requirements are understood and met, and to report on testing progress and outcomes. Act as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring alignment and understanding of data migration objectives and outcomes.
  • Data Lineage identification and Data Mapping.
  • Data Quality Control, Collection and Cleansing: Identify and collect relevant data from multiple sources, including internal databases, external vendors, and APIs.
  • Data Analysis, validation and Interpretation: Utilise tools to perform advanced data analytics, including data blending, analysis, and modelling. Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into data analysis tasks.
  • Problem Solving and Testing: Technical skills to use data to support investigations and testing, understand how to get root cause of problems.
  • Continuous Improvement: Keep abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies in data migration and testing. Recommend process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of data migration and testing activities.
  • Work with operations teams to approve setup of reference/ static data for testing and go-live
  • Coordinate with business process stakeholders to ensure that the business context and impacts are considered
  • Post-Migration Review: Conduct a post-migration review to identify any lessons learned and areas for improvement in future migrations
  • Validate – Data Visualization and Reporting: Use and develop automated reports and data visualizations that provide insights.
  • Data Governance and Quality Assurance: Ensure data integrity, data privacy, and compliance with regulatory standards. Adhere to data governance processes to maintain data quality, consistency, and security.
  • Support Cutover Planning and Runbook Management: contribute to the development and execution of data migration and cutover tasks that need to be completed during the data migration preparation execution and cutover implementation
  • User Coordination: Work with users on how to use the migrated data
  • Post-Migration Validation: Validate the migrated data in the target system to ensure it meets the required quality standards and supports the organisation’s operations. Coordinate validation for the other systems as defined by other respective leads
  • Stakeholder Communication: Regularly communicate with all stakeholders to keep them informed about the progress of the cutover and implementation and address any concerns they may have.

 

The successful Data Migration Test Lead VP will have:

 

Experience in:

    • Data Migration execution and Testing
    • The use of any Data Migration Test tools – Data gaps ETL Validator, Testing Xperts, Tx tools, Dextrus, Azure Document DB, Beyond compare, Informix, Integrate.io, Excel
    • Rule writing and testing
    • Working with Large and Small Data
    • Data Management

 

  • Proficiency in using ETL tools – Talend, Informatica, SSIS and with Migration tools – AWS DMS, Azure Data Migration Service
  • Strong SQ skills and familiarity with database technologies – Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL
  • The ability to identify, manage and maintain Risk (RAID) Logs
  • University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in data migration, data migration testing and data management preferably within the banking or financial sector
  • Ability to use JIRA or Service Now Project Management tools
  • Understanding of the data sets within a Bank that has an investment arm
