DataStage Analyst/ Engineer – banking
Contract (initially until 31/3/2025 – to then be extended)
Minimum of 2 days per week in office
£500 – £600pd
cer Financial are working alongside a bank who are based in the City of London. They are seeking a DataStage Analyst/ Engineer – banking to work on a contract.
The responsibilities of a DataStage Analyst/ Engineer – banking will include:
Project:
• Ensure all deliverables meets SMBC internal standards, industry best practice within the agreed timeframe
• Ensure clear and transparent communication to all key stakeholders
• Responsible for the project deliverables related to assigned initiatives
• Responsible for the IT related risks, issues and ensure appropriate escalation to appropriate management
• Support strategic discussion and propose appropriate recommendation to IT management
BAU support:
• Responsible for troubleshoot, root cause analysis, data analysis related to the BAU support request
• Ensure appropriate tracking and escalation of IT related risks and issue observed
The successful DataStage Analyst/ Engineer – banking will have:
• Understanding of DataStage architecture and components.
• Familiarity with DataStage Designer, Director, and Administrator
• Knowledge of DataStage jobs, stages, and data connections.
• Knowledge databases (e.g., IBM Db2, Oracle, SQL Server)
ETL development:
• Designing, developing, and deploying DataStage jobs.
• Creating complex ETL processes using DataStage and connectors
• Performance tuning of DataStage jobs.
Data Transformation and Cleansing:
• Applying data transformation rules.
• Implementing data quality and data cleansing routines.
Data Integration:
• Integrating data from various sources (e.g., databases, flat files, XML)
• Handling structured and unstructured data.
Problem Solving and Debugging:
• Identify and resolving ETL job failures.
• Troubleshooting performance issues.
Experience:
• Several years of experience developing ETL solutions using IBM DataStage
• Experience with different DataStage versions
Project Experience:
• Involvement in full project life cycles, from requirements gathering to deployment and maintenance.
• Working in Agile or Waterfall project environments.
Database and SQL Experience:
• Writing complex SQL queries and stored procedures.
• Working with large datasets and optimizing queries for performance.
