Credit Manager/Vice President

Role principally consisted of maintaining and monitoring the quality of a loan portfolio, within the 2nd Line of Defence (2LoD), of large multinationals in the Commodity Traders (Tiers 1, 2 & 3), O&G, Metals & Mining, Agri and Chemicals sectors across EMEA, Russia & CIS, Africa and Latin America. The loan book stands at c.US$20bn with individual client exposures varying between US$60m and US$4bn comprised of Corporate and Structured Trade Finance facilities.

  • Reviewing a wide array of transactions of which Structured Trade Finance, Syndicated loans, Trade Finance, Pre-Export Finance, treasury products and Derivatives (incl. ISDA/CSAs documentation).
  • Liaising and negotiating with the front office teams on credit matters of clients and ensuring potential transactions are within the bank’s appetite.
  • Carrying out thorough analysis of credit applications, preparing credit reports, presenting and recommending deals to Senior Management.
  • P&L, Balance sheet, cash flow analysis and evaluating financial models related to long term projections.
  • Assessing customer ratings in accordance to internal guidelines.
  • Training Junior credit analysts.

The loan book stood at c.US$ 15bn with individual client exposures varying between US$50m and US$3bn across Europe, Russia, CIS, Asia, Americas and Africa.

Credit Analyst

Working as part of the front office team (1LoD) on a loan portfolio (Syndicated Facilities and bilateral Trade Finance lines) of Listed and Privately held Investment Grade Large-Cap Multinationals comprised mostly of the leading oil & gas commodity traders, in addition to oilfield services companies, agribusiness trading houses, defence, telecommunication and engineering listed market leading entities. The loan book stood at c.US$600m with individual loan exposures varying between US$10m and US$120m. Responsibilities also include analysing Scandinavian, Dutch, UK and North African Financial Institutions.

  • Producing detailed company specific credit applications for timely submission to Credit Committee.
  • Recommending credit lines as part of a relationship building strategy with corporates.
  • Meeting with client representatives and conducting due diligence.
  • Handling KYCs, related documentation and monitoring the utilisation of credit lines.
  • Developing relationships with 3rd parties of which book runners and secondary market traders.

In addition to my position as a Relationship Manager I was promoted as Head of Cards Approval Unit of the bank. Further responsibilities include:

  • Leading a department comprised of 2 officers handling requests for credit cards.

  • Liaising with the marketing department and senior management in finding innovative ways to implement and improve credit card services and marketing campaigns.
