Credit Manager – Credit Risk
- Complete credit reviews for new business requests, annual reviews, limit amendments, adhoc requests and minor changes. These applications cover mainly Real Estate Development & Investment (Residential and Commercial), Private Banking Mortgages and Financial Institutions. Approval level can range from self-delegated to presenting applications to various Credit Committees (inc. Board Committee) and require a self-recommendation on the credit profile of the client.
- In charge of the Asset Recovery Unit, liaising with clients and other professionals to ensure loans return to good book. Responsible for producing discounted cashflows for the troubled facilities along with any recommendations as to what stage of IFRS 9 provisioning they may require. Also, created and responsible for the Credit Risk policy guidelines to ensure they are relevant, in particular if the early warning indicators/triggers require revising. Within the Asset Recovery Unit, also responsible for monitoring the bank’s arrears report and Watchlist. This includes producing a monthly report for the credit committee with updates and recommendation as to whether a client should be escalated to the Watchlist,
- Maintaining country risk reporting and limit management, which includes country annual reviews and any adhoc limit amendment applications.
- Work with the front line and the wider risk department to monitor and implement temporary policy guidelines and procedures for counterparties that have been affected by COVID-19. At times this has had to be reactive to any recent government announcements and market conditions and includes the continued support to clients during difficult economic times.
- Responsible for reviewing and approving drawdown packs for new facilities, this includes reviewing valuation reports, facility documentation, insurance mandates, security documentation, and utilisation statements. When required also review Project Monitoring Reports for ongoing development transactions.
- Supported and participated in bringing together Underwriting Guidelines for individual departments (Real Estate, Private Banking and Specialised Asset Syndications) and implementing a Credit Oversight function. This included liaising with the front line to understand their department processes, clients, products, and bring together guidelines to suit their business operations.
- Pro-actively review processes as an oversight function in Credit Risk Controls, Policies and Procedures across the Bank. Promote suggestions for improvement in relation to credit process, from initial pipeline assessment to Credit Decision-making to identify and address potential deficiencies. Recently participated in the review of the Bank’s Credit Risk Policy and the Country Risk Policy, which were presented at Board Risk Committee.
- When required liaise with internal and external auditors to give an oversight of the Credit Departments Policies and Procedures and support them with any adhoc requests.
- Work in collaboration with the front office departments on their portfolio reviews providing detailing Credit Risk Analysis on a portfolio book analysis, which are then subsequently presented to the Credit Committee, Executive and Board Risk Committees.
- Demonstrated not only analytical skills through credit report writing and the reading, interpretation and summarising of company financial information, but a keen eye for detail and presenting format for sanctioning.
- Collate and produce weekly Credit Committee packs and produce detailed minutes from the meeting. Working efficiently to timelines to issue committee agenda and papers and on occasion when required produce Board Credit Committee papers and minutes from the meeting.
- In collaboration with the wider Risk and Frontline departments, reviewed the Bank’s internal Return on Equity model, which included reviewing background data, streamlining the model, and making the process more user friendly.
- Produce Credit Risk MI on a monthly and on an ad-hoc basis, reporting to key stakeholders within BLME, including Executive Risk Committee and Chairman Report as appropriate and improve quality where appropriate.
- Provide training/advice to the Front Office and Junior Credit Risk members of staff on Credit Risk aspects, including providing training sessions on using the various Moody’s and Fitch Credit rating systems. Being BLME’s main point of contact with Moody’s and Fitch credit agencies.
