US GCR Senior Tax Manager

The opportunity
cer Financial’s client is a leading professional services provider. They are looking for a GCR Tax Manager to manage their clients with the asset management sector (hedge funds, debt funds, private equity funds and real estate funds and their management entities.
Our clients is looking for managers, specifically with US state and local income tax experience, specifically within the financial services industry – a part of the companies growth plans for 2026
Your key responsibilities
The incumbent will be charged with overseeing PE fund US state tax compliance projects for clients taking in consideration of the risk, operational, and tax technical elements. Carrying out research of US state tax legislation and explaining the effect to asset management clients. The right person will coach junior staff members (UK and US) - coordinating multiple teams’ schedules and milestones.
Skills and attributes for success
- Good PM skills
- Solid experience in securities analysis for non-electing funds (475), including analysis required to compute a hedge fund’s taxable income.
- Solid understanding of hedge fund partnership allocations, also an understanding of revaluation accounts and aggregation.
- Adept at advising clients on the US tax impact of various trading strategies and fund structures, as well as US tax elections.
- Proficiency in juggling multiple priorities while managing internal and external stakeholders.
To qualify for the role you must have
- CPA, Enrolled Agent status or equivalent qualification/degree specifically within accounting or taxation (or similar qualification)
- Knowledge of corporate and international tax returns and related US tax laws.
- Extensive experience in the preparation and the review partnership tax returns &Schedules K-1.
- Practical experience with hedge fund securities analysis and allocations.
- In-depth knowledge of Go Systems tax preparation software or similar system.
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Experience managing cross-border teams of 2-6 people. (mentoring, managing & Guiding)
- Ability to collaborate directly with non-tax stakeholders at your clients to explain US tax concepts at a practical level.
- Working exposure of a hedge fund US tax preparation software.
- Knowledge of common management company structures and their US tax considerations.
- Background in financial services, ideally working with hedge funds in a US tax capacity.
- Experience in delivering technical and soft skills training to junior team members.
